1. Substrate Preparation
The substrate must be level and free of debris; this step specifically addresses any existing installations that might interfere with the mineral wool ceiling construction.
2. Marking Layout Lines
Mark the ceiling layout lines based on the design elevation to serve as the reference for the mineral wool ceiling installation.
3. Installing Hanger Rods
Determine hanger rod locations according to construction drawings, install embedded anchors, and apply anti-rust paint. Hanger rods are made of 8mm diameter steel bars with a spacing of 900–1200mm between suspension points. During installation, the upper end is welded to the embedded anchor, while the lower end is threaded to connect with the hanger fitting. The exposed length of the installed hanger rod end must be at least 3mm.
4. Installing Main Runners
Typically, C38 runners are used with a spacing of 900–1200mm. When installing, attach the main runner hangers to the runners and tighten the screws; incorporate a 1/200 camber (upward arch) as required and continuously check for flatness. In rooms, main runners are arranged parallel to the long axis of the light fixtures (avoiding the fixture locations), whereas in corridors, they are arranged parallel to the corridor's short axis.
5. Installing Cross Runners (Secondary Runners)
Compatible cross runners are typically baked-enamel T-runners; their spacing matches the transverse dimension of the ceiling panels. Suspend the cross runners from the main runners using hanger clips. Install 600mm transverse bracing runners parallel to the main runners at intervals of 600mm or 1200mm.
6. Installing Edge Runners (Wall Angles)
Use L-shaped edge runners, securing them to the wall with plastic expansion anchors or self-tapping screws at 200mm intervals. Level the wall surface with putty before installing the edge runners to prevent future contamination or leveling difficulties during final wall finishing.
7. Concealed Work Inspection
After the installation and testing (water flow and pressure tests) of mechanical and electrical systems are complete, inspect the runner framework. Proceed to the next construction stage only after the inspection passes. 8. Installation of Mineral Wool Panels
The specifications and thickness of the mineral wool panels should be determined based on specific design requirements; standard dimensions are typically 600 × 600 × 15 mm. Installers must wear white gloves during installation to prevent contamination.
