Storage practices must account for material properties and environmental conditions; key measures include environmental control, categorized stacking, specialized storage methods, and regular maintenance.
The ideal storage environment maintains a temperature of 10°C–30°C and humidity of 40%–70%. Wood-based panels are prone to mold growth when humidity exceeds 70%, while metal panels are susceptible to oxidation in high-humidity conditions; dehumidification equipment is required, and daily humidity fluctuations should be limited to no more than 5%.
Warehouses must be well-ventilated and protected from direct sunlight and rain. Floors should be level and free of sharp objects, with moisture-proof mats laid down if necessary. During the rainy season, humidity levels require daily monitoring, and dehumidification equipment must be activated immediately upon the detection of condensation.
High-value panels (such as precision alloy or stainless steel sheets) should be stored indoors, equipped with fire safety systems, and kept away from sources of ignition.
For outdoor storage, select a level site with good drainage; cover the materials with waterproof tarpaulins and place them on a moisture-proof base layer (such as wooden slats or a steel framework).
Stack panels separately according to material, specifications, and intended use to prevent mixing.
Elevate the base by 10–20 cm (using wooden strips, steel frames, or specialized spacers), leave a gap of 5–10 cm between panels, and ensure the stacking height generally does not exceed 2 meters.
Metal panels: Store horizontally and secure using non-slip spacers (e.g., rubber pads); place foam sheets or cardboard between panels with high surface finish requirements (e.g., stainless steel); separate galvanized steel and stainless steel panels with PE film to prevent metal ion migration.
Wood-based panels: Use timber spacers when arranging vertically; limit the height of horizontal stacks to 1.2 meters, placing non-slip wooden strips (spaced 50–80 cm apart) between layers.
Composite panels: Keep packaging film intact for materials such as MDF and plywood; ensure the stacking angle does not exceed 15 degrees.
Stone panels: Store vertically using dedicated racks, maintaining a gap of at least 10 mm between panels to prevent damage to edges and corners.
