Galvanized coils are coated with a layer of zinc on the surface of steel coils to enhance its corrosion resistance. However, the thickness of the zinc layer has little effect on the overall density, so the theoretical density is still dominated by steel.
The theoretical density of galvanized coils is usually 7.85g/cm³, which is a standard value calculated based on the density of steel.
Actual weight difference: The galvanized layer will make the actual weight slightly heavier than ordinary steel plates. For example, a 1mm thick galvanized plate is about 7.95kg per square meter (containing zinc layer).
Influence of zinc layer: The density of zinc is about 7.14 g/cm³, but the weight of the galvanized layer is usually only a few tens of grams per square meter, which has little impact on the overall density.
